Well, there is! I bought this grill for a third what the Traeger costs, and guess what? It does a great job!! There are a couple of immediate advantages this grill has over my old grill. One, you can sear with it. Can't on the Traeger. Two, you can adjust the "P" setting for more or less smoke. I've got mine set to a little higher than medium. No adjustment on the Traeger.
The Pit Boss Deluxe Wood Pellet Grill comes loaded with many features. Use the flame broiler slide plate to easily switch from smoking to searing your food with open flame. As far as Pit Boss customer service is concerned all I can tell you is that my experience was ridiculously awful.  I called Customer Support to ask a question about grate size and was routed into an automated system.   Every three minutes the automated system gave me two options to HANG UP the phone.  After 10 minutes and the third time the system asked me to, I hung up.
The Tailgater 20 Series Freestanding Grill is one of the best wood pellet grills from Traeger for those who like to cook away from home. It’s small and lightweight enough that you can load it in your car for tailgating before the big game, cooking while camping or grilling at the park. The ash bucket collects all ash created, which makes cleaning up before heading home easier.
This pellet grill is an exceptional cooking machine. Utilizing only wood chips for fuel, it boasts of an extensive temperature range, letting you grill anywhere between 150 to 700 degrees Fahrenheit. Safety is not a problem, though. It has a digital control panel, letting you set the temperature and leave the grill to cook whatever it is you want to cook, the way you want it cooked! You can grill perfectly smoked ribs, bake pizza, grill some steak or burgers, and it’s perfectly cooked every time.
After only two weeks the auger jammed and quit turning. I stored the grill under a cover and had it under the eaves of my house. When I contacted Pit Boss customer service they said, "Even with a cover and being under the eaves, the pellets will still pull moisture out of the air. When those pellets get wet they can swell, and prevent the auger from turning." They included two pdf documents on how to disassemble the grill to include disconnecting wiring and circuit boards. If every time it rains, I'm going to clean out the auger, no thank you. No where in the instruction booklet does it say anything about not storing pellets in the hopper or it will clog the auger and will you have to spend the next week disassembling your grill.
Cleaning and Maintenance: Keeping the grill clean is critical if you need to get the most out of the unit. Old debris can influence the viability of the unit thus normal cleaning is vital. In addition, while moving it around, take alert not to thump it since it accompanies little legs which can without much of a stretch tip over the unit when thumped.
To test the grill out, I decided to try it with ribs, sausages, and burgers. Once the grill settles down, small items of meat cook quickly, and the wood pellets give the meat a Smokey flavor. I also tried a longer smoke with an 8-pound brisket. My own recipe is the “low and slow” variety, something the Pit Boss does very well. I like to cook my brisket at 180 degrees, and the Pit Boss happily maintained the temperature for hours at a time.

I got this for father's day 2017, I've put 120 lbs of pellets through mine. Overall it is great, good price for the money, sear plate is nice for grilling. After a long Texas summer with a lot of use, it now struggles to hold at 225. It will either run at 205 or 235. It used to hold like a champ. I started using a Therm Pro TP08 Dual Probe to confirm and it's showing the same thing. I've tried playing with the P settings but nothing works. My only other complaint is that the paint burned off of the outside underneath. Called customer service, left a couple voicemails, and never got a call back.

After much research and learning how easy a pellet grill/smoker was to use I purchased one. I have never smoked anything before and honestly only ever grilled hot dogs and hamburgers. After building this I primed it as the manual suggests and then smoked a pork shoulder for 10 hours and oh my! After I slid the flame broiler cover over and grilled steaks, brats, burgers, and dogs. Everyone couldn’t have been happier including myself!
***Six month update.... LOVE this pit. Can't say how much it has changed the way I cook. I initially bought it for the occasional times I want to smoke big meats... brisket, pork butt, ribs, pork belly, etc., and it is AWESOME for that. Totally "set it and forget it." But, it has completely replaced my $4000 Cal Flame gas "outdoor kitchen" for EVERYTHING. Burgers, chicken breasts/thighs/wings/etc, pork chops, steaks, veggies, pineapple...OK you get the point. I literally have not turned on my Cal-Flame since I purchased it. Our new favorite thing is buying cheap frozen pizzas and lasagna and making them taste like they were fired in a brick oven- without heating up the kitchen in our hot Texas summer months. Below is my original review, modified in a few spots where I have gained some knowledge and added some ***notes.... and, yes, I did use this for the graduation party mentioned below, and yes... it was perfection. I have been asked to cater similar events.
