We’ve looked at grills with larger hopper capacities, but this one has been reported to hold anywhere from 10-20 pounds, depending on who you ask, but you should be able to fit a twenty-pound bag in there. This isn’t really a major point of contention because it’s simple to add more pellets as needed, and you can have this thing smoking all day without having to add more.
UPDATE 8/27 - This grill is still performing flawlessly. No error messages, maintains temperatures. I have made homeade pizzas and strombolis on a pizza stone and it actually makes them better than in the oven. Its like a restaurant wood fired pizza. I made a pork butt, beef brisket, bacon wrapped scallops....it just simply cooks everything well. Love my Pit Boss !!
This grill is simply amazing. Many people told me to get the Trager and I honestly was about too. But my wife wouldn’t sign off on spending 700 bucks. And rightfully so. So I did some more research and found Pit Boss! This is solid, it feel nice, heavy closing lid, great hopper feed, and no issues so far. I’ve read that many people have some inconsistencies in their temps but it’s mostly to do with how they operate. If you switch back and forth between multiple temps, it will automatically feed wood to the fire for 2.5 mins and cause a spike in smoke or temp. So to avoid this when you are switch from smoke to a higher temp, move your meat to the upper shelf.
