Gas grills are the best friend of the busy (or easily confused) person. With just the turn of a knob, the grill flames alight ready to use. There’s no added fuel cost and no worries with disposal of ash. With just a quick wipe post use it’s all ready for another sunny day. They also preheat very quickly, within 10 minutes you’ll be ready to start laying out your meat medley for grilling.
Cleaning and Maintenance: Keeping the grill clean is critical if you need to get the most out of the unit. Old debris can influence the viability of the unit thus normal cleaning is vital. In addition, while moving it around, take alert not to thump it since it accompanies little legs which can without much of a stretch tip over the unit when thumped.
Transportable, but not only that. This grill is light, well designed and affordable all while having a huge amount of space for cooking up outdoors. The independently controlled burners mean that you can regulate temperature to fit your exact requirements. One small downfall being a lack of temperature measurements on the dials but this is by no means takes away from all of its positives.
Remember the checklist I said we created? Well, this product managed to score 15 of the best of the best qualities, including stainless steel burner and dual valve system, porcelain coated grids, grease tray and wood chip drawer with external access, and large window with high temp. door seal. Despite it not ticking every single, possible box, this grill managed to score in the ones that customers valued the most, and this is what drove us towards placing it in the first place. Also, the price of this model is ridiculously reasonable – at under 200 USD this top branded grill is one of the lowest priced models for a gas grill; how amazing is that?

We just bought a 700 today and am very frustrated. We sat for 4 hours trying to maintain the temperature. On smoke, it went as high as 450 and stayed.. and this continued on every temperature we tried. We set the “p” setting to all the different possibilities.. We finally gave up after trying to get it to maintain a 250 degree temp.. it kept going over 400.. I don’t understand and not to happy tonight. Anyone have these issues?
Pit Boss is a company worth trusting. They’re a large corporation built around quality, efficiency and meeting customer needs. They even allow you to register any product with their brand on their website, for full warranty and online manual access. So, even if you’ve decided on buying one of their grills elsewhere, you can rest assured they’ve got you covered. Although Pit Boss grills often come only partially assembled, you really only need a screwdriver and a tiny bit of time to fit the pieces together quickly and easily. For the wood pellet grills, Pit Boss stock their own range of flavored, all American wood pellets that you can buy not only from their website, but all across the web (they’re notoriously brilliant!)
My Pit Boss totally exceeded my expectations. For the price, you can't beat the consistency and durability of this grill. Here in Texas we take BBQ very seriously. As a craftsman in front of the grill, my family my friends and I have have been pleaased with how well my recipes have turned out. I feel like I've taken my cooking to a higher level with a Pit Boss
Pit Boss offers a Small 340, Medium 440 Deluxe, Large 820 and 820 Deluxe. The numbers indicate total cooking surface including warming racks. All are 16 gauge black powder coated steel with porcelain coated cast iron grates, coated steel rod secondary removable cooking racks, and coated wire lower shelves. A handle attached to the wood pellet hopper on the left enables you to easily lift Pit Boss and roll it around on two large steel wheels on the right. A handy bracket to wrap up the electric cord is also located on the hopper (shown below).
Kamado Grills are the Japanese, adorable egg-shaped equivalent of a grill. Kamado grills use wood as their primary fuel source and allow you to smoke and grill at the same time to an excellent standard. The thick walls of the vessel are also perfect for slow cooking, with the top and bottom air vents circumventing flow through the vessel using a large ceramic divide in the center of the ‘egg’. This ceramic insert pushes heat towards the edges of the vessel, and away from directly hitting the meat, this results in the most beautiful cook.
I started by boiling the potatoes on the gas grill while giving the chicken a quick sear on the charcoal grill to lock in the moisture. Then I transferred the chicken to the smoker to finish it because I like the smoky flavor, but more importantly, because the wood pellet grill cooks more evenly and isn’t prone to hot spots or flare ups. While the chicken was smoking and the potatoes were boiling, I started the pesto and then put the potatoes on the gas grill for a crispy finish. I may never eat potato salad any other way!
That is right…it doesn’t mean that they WILL fill apart in 2-3 seasons. It means don’t be surprised if they do. Look, for the same price as the Pit Boss I can get a three burner Weber Spirit II E 310 with the high performance grilling system. The grill is built like a tank, performs amazing and comes with a TEN YEAR warranty. In my opinion, once you get into the $400-$500 range a 1 year warranty does not make the grade. I know plenty of folks that have the Pit Boss and they really like it. They like them so much that when they fall apart in a few years that I suspect they will buy another Pit Boss. Some folks are perfectly happy with disposable grills and smokers. I am not one of them.
Pit Boss Grills is owned by Dansons, the same company that makes the popular Louisiana Pellet Smokers. They are headquartered in Alberta, Canada with US distribution in Minnesota. Along with Traeger, Louisiana was one of the early entrants to the pellet smoker market. They produce a wide variety of pellet smokers, accessories and are getting into the kamado business as well.
The Pellet smoker includes 6 porcelain coated cooking grids, leaving 2196 sq inches of cooking space; more than enough to cook for the family and have some extra to store. The best bit about this vertical smoker is the digital controller. It’s fully programmable and allows you to vary between temperatures safely and easily. The 40+lb hopper works brilliantly to ensure that you can smoke over a low temperature and a longer time period. The double walled blanket insulation ensures that your food is getting the absolute most out of your wood pellets.

Among all of Pit Boss’ gas grills, this unit has an impressive review frequency – meaning a lot of those who bought it were definitely satisfied with this grill. It has four racks – all porcelain-coated, making it very spacious and easy to clean, a separate chamber for wood chips so you can easily refuel without disrupting the smoking procedure, and a viewing window on the door to let you see just how well the cooking is proceeding without opening the cooking chamber. This grill uses dual burners for uniform cooking, and has a temperature range of 100 to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Best of all, this grill is unbelievably priced at under $200 – which definitely makes it quite a steal!
Pellet grills preheat quickly, so you can start cooking almost immediately, and the pellets are available in a number of woods, for different smoke flavors. The smoke has a subtle wood-fired flavor with less of the acrid flavor that comes from standard wood or charcoal. For the maximum smoke flavor, it’s best to cook at a temperature lower than 250 degrees, while higher temperatures cook faster with less smoke.
This is the second one I have received as the first one was a lemon. The first one worked great the first 3 times I used it, but then I started getting "Err" message, as well as an overheat message randomly that would not go away. I returned it to Amazon and promptly received a replacement. I have used this one heavily for 7 days now and have had no problems. I will check back in in a couple weeks with my results. It is very well constructed, holds its temperatures well and cooks pretty evenly. I have smoked/grilled ribs using the 3/2/1 method, made stuffed hamburgers, a whole chicken, and a porterhouse steak so far. For the price you cannot beat it. The searing option where you can open the heat shield/drip tray to expose slots directly over the flame is great for cooking steaks and a nice option that you don't see on other models. The removable side tray is also nice for bringing out your meat and placing your finished product on it. The bottle opener is weird...u have to really put the bottle at an angle to open and you lose part of your beer....but it looks cool...lol. A few tips: Cover the heat shield/drip tray with new tin foil each use or else it is almost impossible to clean it. Make sure the knob is in the off position before plugging it in and wait for the numbers to stop flashing before adjusting the temperature. Always start out in the smoke position until it is smoking and a a flame has started, then turn it to your desired temperature(about 5 min). Vacuum out the firepot and inside of the barrel every other use. Most importantly....use this thing as much as possible in the first 30 days to make sure it is functioning properly so if you do have problems you can return to Amazon. I love Amazon. As soon as I clicked on 'Return' and printed the free return shipping label, they had already ordered me a new one and I had it in 3 days!!! In case you would have to return it, mark your boxes that everything came in and take pictures of how it was packed. Took me over 2 hours to pack this thing back up. Most importantly....use this grill as much as you can in the first 30 days to make sure it is functioning correctly, otherwise you will have to deal with Pitboss ...paying your own return shipping and replacing parts on your own. Also don't forget to register your grill right away on the Pitboss website, in case you have problems after the 30 day Amazon window. Checkout the Pitboss website for their recipes....some of them are quite good...the bacon wrapped asparagus tastes just like Carrabas. Just sprinkle some balsamic vinegar on it after grilling. The Pitboss spices/rubs, while expensive are very good. The sweet heat is good on anything and the mandarin habanero is amazing on wings. I sprinkle and toss after cooking. Good luck !!
