Cleaning and Maintenance: Any individual who’s taken a stab at cleaning a pellet grill before sees exactly that it is so hard to get all the ash out after use. This unit gives you a less demanding access to the burn pot. It also includes a trap door which permits you to clean the unit without digging through the ashes and oil. Cleaning the unit is by and large significantly less demanding when compared with the normal charcoal grills.

While marinades and seasonings help meats and veggies taste delicious, wood smoking chips and pellets can add rich flavor to your dishes, too. Many are designed to add robust maple and hickory flavors to meats as well as hints of fruit, like apple and peach, that are perfect for poultry. You can even stock the hopper with a mix of your favorite flavors to create a signature dish that's sure to impress even the pickiest of eaters.

A positive Pit Boss attribute we observed, but couldn't explain or verify was that everything we cooked seemed to come out remarkably moist and juicy. The only apparent unique features we saw were the arched drip plate and lack of flame diffuser. Our science advisor, Dr. Greg Blonder, doubted the arched plate was a factor, but observed, "The odd firepot arrangement might cause a circulating airflow pattern, which could affect the humidity bubble around meat".

Pit Boss vs. Traeger comparison is more than just complicated to deduce and explain, due to the fact both brands are basically similar. However, the main differences include design, which is better with Pitt Boss and the available models. Here we can also see that Pit Boss is in the leadership. Also, they are more complicated to use and they are more expensive.
In terms of changing pellets, this sort of depends on the brand and model you go with. In the newer Pit Boss models, they have a “cleanout chute” where you can unscrew the hopper and allow the pellets to come out. In the Traeger models they have a door and pellets come out that way instead. This is something that brands like Pit Boss and Traeger recognized as being a problem and obviously it is now being implemented. When making your purchasing decision, definitely do your research and ensure the model has an option on the hopper to remove the pellets.
The Tailgater 20 Series Freestanding Grill is one of the best wood pellet grills from Traeger for those who like to cook away from home. It’s small and lightweight enough that you can load it in your car for tailgating before the big game, cooking while camping or grilling at the park. The ash bucket collects all ash created, which makes cleaning up before heading home easier.
This was a gift from my wife for my 65th B-day. I have been smoking foods most of my adult life and still have one wood, one propane and one charcoal smoker but this is my first pellet. It's so easy it's boring. I just load it, shut the lid and and walk away. No puffing, no loading of wood or water, no worry's with temperature, easy to clean and makes me look like the pit boss. From the searing of steaks, to smoked red and white meats, to baking entire meals, this is the best. My friends have the others, but I have the best.
Most of them work in a very similar way. There’s a hopper attached to either the side or the back of the grill which holds pellets, often between 10-40 pounds at once, and it feeds them into the flames as necessary to achieve your desired temperature. The temperatures often range from 170 degrees up to 500. This allows you to smoke your food very slowly, for a perfectly flavorful and tender result, or to get the cooking done rather quickly while still using the flavor profile of the pellets.

Has had auger issues from the beginning and a yr later continues. Once it gets running it does a good job of cooking but it takes average 20 minutes to continually unjamb the auger. Called CS after first use and the issue was recognized and it's looks to be poorly designed with a simi free floating impeller/ auger to keep the impeller from jamming into the side housing and this worked for that issue but now the auger just gets jammed up and I have to empty out the hopper tap on the auger then it will start again till it warms up.
This ceramic Kamado grill is a thing of beauty that combines function and efficiency. It features a heavy-duty ceramic outer body with foldable bamboo shelves on each side, a cast iron damper that lets you control the temperature for cooking, and versatile cooking space with two layers of steel grates. Like ancient Kamados, it uses charcoal for fuel, and has an automated control dial that lets you increase or decrease the temperature inside the grill. The interior of the grill is well-insulated, resulting in well-cooked and flavorful meat every time. With around 567 square inch of cooking space and an extra grate made of stainless steel, you can easily prepare a feast for your family or friends.
Here's the conundrum pellet smoker manufacturers have been facing all along – people who own them love the ease of use and excellent results, and have no remorse for paying a few hundred bucks more than the cost of their neighbor's grill. But for many, pellet smokers are overpriced foreign objects, although that's changing as the pellet smoker industry slowly infiltrates the country, one backyard at a time. So we love finding a decent pellet smoker at a low price like Pit Boss. But remember – don't pay the MSRP posted below. At list price we give the 820D an AmazingRibs.com Best Value Bronze Medal. At around $500 it jumps to Silver. List price on the standard 820 is about a hundred bucks less than Deluxe.
We just bought a 700 today and am very frustrated. We sat for 4 hours trying to maintain the temperature. On smoke, it went as high as 450 and stayed.. and this continued on every temperature we tried. We set the “p” setting to all the different possibilities.. We finally gave up after trying to get it to maintain a 250 degree temp.. it kept going over 400.. I don’t understand and not to happy tonight. Anyone have these issues?
Remote Accessibility: This level of control and observing is critical on the grounds that the container does not generally sustain the pellets into the wood screw accurately and the fire in the firepot can go out. The Davy Crockett will tell you that the container is not sustaining wood pellets and that the temperature is dropping. The Davy Crockett application will reveal to you something isn’t right.
This grill is just small enough to pack away in a bag and prop up ready for use with its folding legs. The hood can also latch on separately so you can pack things away in the most efficient way possible. The dome thermometer is clear and easy to read, and with just the click of a button the grill will flare up, ready for use. The grill has 2 10,000 BTU burners which you can control independently; you can optimize your cooking platform to cook things completely differently on the same space.
I got this for father's day 2017, I've put 120 lbs of pellets through mine. Overall it is great, good price for the money, sear plate is nice for grilling. After a long Texas summer with a lot of use, it now struggles to hold at 225. It will either run at 205 or 235. It used to hold like a champ. I started using a Therm Pro TP08 Dual Probe to confirm and it's showing the same thing. I've tried playing with the P settings but nothing works. My only other complaint is that the paint burned off of the outside underneath. Called customer service, left a couple voicemails, and never got a call back.
This grill is simply amazing. Many people told me to get the Trager and I honestly was about too. But my wife wouldn’t sign off on spending 700 bucks. And rightfully so. So I did some more research and found Pit Boss! This is solid, it feel nice, heavy closing lid, great hopper feed, and no issues so far. I’ve read that many people have some inconsistencies in their temps but it’s mostly to do with how they operate. If you switch back and forth between multiple temps, it will automatically feed wood to the fire for 2.5 mins and cause a spike in smoke or temp. So to avoid this when you are switch from smoke to a higher temp, move your meat to the upper shelf.
Select your preferred cooking style with the digital control board and standard flame broiler. Set it and forget it–or slide the plate to sear or use cast iron over open flame. No need for LP or natural gas–our wood pellet fuel produces an exceptional taste and consists of only 100% natural hardwood pellets. These 8-in-1 grills range in cooking temperature from 180 to 550 F. With heavy-gauge steel components, complete structural strength and durability, these high-value grills are built to last.
Remember the checklist I said we created? Well, this product managed to score 15 of the best of the best qualities, including stainless steel burner and dual valve system, porcelain coated grids, grease tray and wood chip drawer with external access, and large window with high temp. door seal. Despite it not ticking every single, possible box, this grill managed to score in the ones that customers valued the most, and this is what drove us towards placing it in the first place. Also, the price of this model is ridiculously reasonable – at under 200 USD this top branded grill is one of the lowest priced models for a gas grill; how amazing is that?
To begin, we sifted through over a thousand Amazon user reviews of over 20 different grills, all from different categories i.e. some wood pellet, some gas, etc. Every review was considered, from the best Pit Boss grill review to the worst Pit Boss grill review. As we did this, we narrowed down what features exactly drive users towards a satisfied purchase. We then gathered an average of what people tend to look for in a grill, what they feel they need from a grill, and what sort of results they got cooking with different grills.
Kamado Grills are the Japanese, adorable egg-shaped equivalent of a grill. Kamado grills use wood as their primary fuel source and allow you to smoke and grill at the same time to an excellent standard. The thick walls of the vessel are also perfect for slow cooking, with the top and bottom air vents circumventing flow through the vessel using a large ceramic divide in the center of the ‘egg’. This ceramic insert pushes heat towards the edges of the vessel, and away from directly hitting the meat, this results in the most beautiful cook.

I just love this smoker/grill! I use it at least twice a week. I’ve made great pizza’s (on my Pit Boss Pizza Stone) The first one I ordered was delivered, and was broken. I called Pit Boss, and they replaced it right away, without any hassle! That’s good customer service! I love the fact that they carry so many natural flavored wood pellets. I use the apple wood pellets for ribs, the Hickory for steaks and chicken, and the competition blend for grilling burgers, salmon, etc. My friends are always impressed by the quality, I mean, this thing is a flavor machine! I’ve read a few negative reviews, but I have not had any problem with this machine. All you have to do is keep it clean, and it performs like a champ! I am very satisfied with this product, and would highly recommend it to anyone who is thinking about getting a new grill or smoker. Sincerely, Happy Pallet in Venice, Florida!
