Was originally looking for a gas grill, this grill had everything I was looking for and more. Larger cooking space, no flare ups, ability to smoke. I have zero fluctuations in temp, but there is a significant temp difference between controller temp and lid thermometer. I have learned how to deal with this. Also, it comes with 2 temp probes that I use always that help, plus I just learned on Youtube that if you adjust the "P" settings you can fix this issue. Other small things that I like about this grill is Made In America, Instructions only in English, and they were specific to this model (not cut n paste saying "if applicable"). 40lb bag of pellet compared to propane tank consumption is close, but you will spend a little more for a bag of pellets and maybe have to buy slightly more often than a tank refill....but I have been grilling a lot more also. I also compared to other brands as well. Probably the worst thing about this grill is Walmart cant keep them in stock

Has had auger issues from the beginning and a yr later continues. Once it gets running it does a good job of cooking but it takes average 20 minutes to continually unjamb the auger. Called CS after first use and the issue was recognized and it's looks to be poorly designed with a simi free floating impeller/ auger to keep the impeller from jamming into the side housing and this worked for that issue but now the auger just gets jammed up and I have to empty out the hopper tap on the auger then it will start again till it warms up.

Packaging was good inside and out. All parts were secured to prevent damage and we liked the colorful graphics on the hopper and under the hood that explained how a pellet smoker works for a first time user. When the 820 was almost fully assembled, we noticed an unused bag of washers that were not mentioned in the assembly instructions except in the parts list. After being on hold with customer service for ten minutes, we were advised to unscrew everything and refasten all parts adding the washers to the screw and lock nut assemblies.

Along with Traeger, Louisiana was one of the early entrants to the pellet smoker market. They produce a wide variety of pellet smokers, accessories and are getting into the kamado business as well.
Cleaning and Maintenance: Keeping the grill clean is critical if you need to get the most out of the unit. Old debris can influence the viability of the unit thus normal cleaning is vital. In addition, while moving it around, take alert not to thump it since it accompanies little legs which can without much of a stretch tip over the unit when thumped.

We just bought a 700 today and am very frustrated. We sat for 4 hours trying to maintain the temperature. On smoke, it went as high as 450 and stayed.. and this continued on every temperature we tried. We set the “p” setting to all the different possibilities.. We finally gave up after trying to get it to maintain a 250 degree temp.. it kept going over 400.. I don’t understand and not to happy tonight. Anyone have these issues?
Purchased this grill a couple months ago for my husband. Everything we grill/smoke turns out perfect (and we are not chefs)! Very happy with this purchase and will never go back to gas grills or other types of smokers. This grill is so versatile and easy to clean. The flavor and textures of briskets, steaks, chicken, fish, burgers, etc turn out so well, we feel like we are cheating. The temperatures that we set are on target and it evenly cooks the food. It's very heavy duty and we look forward to using this grill for many years to come. If you purchase this grill you will not regret it. One more thing, we were concerned that it would not be big enough. It is great for a family of 4 but also works well when having guests. I would say this is a good mid-size grill. If you are looking for a large grill to entertain with you may want to look for a larger size.
