Remember the checklist I said we created? Well, this product managed to score 15 of the best of the best qualities, including stainless steel burner and dual valve system, porcelain coated grids, grease tray and wood chip drawer with external access, and large window with high temp. door seal. Despite it not ticking every single, possible box, this grill managed to score in the ones that customers valued the most, and this is what drove us towards placing it in the first place. Also, the price of this model is ridiculously reasonable – at under 200 USD this top branded grill is one of the lowest priced models for a gas grill; how amazing is that?
Bought the smoker about 6 months ago - haven't started the gas grill since! I still have a propane smoker at the campground - going to try and sell that because we love the pit boss that much. We've smoked ribs, pork loin, prime rib, steaks, pizza and one of my favorites was smoked cheese. By turning up the"p"setting we were able to keep the temp down to around 80-95 degrees. We've smoked food in 90 temps all the way to 20 below zero it's no joke. Absolutely love the pit boss!
Pit Boss vs. Traeger comparison is more than just complicated to deduce and explain, due to the fact both brands are basically similar. However, the main differences include design, which is better with Pitt Boss and the available models. Here we can also see that Pit Boss is in the leadership. Also, they are more complicated to use and they are more expensive.
Has had auger issues from the beginning and a yr later continues. Once it gets running it does a good job of cooking but it takes average 20 minutes to continually unjamb the auger. Called CS after first use and the issue was recognized and it's looks to be poorly designed with a simi free floating impeller/ auger to keep the impeller from jamming into the side housing and this worked for that issue but now the auger just gets jammed up and I have to empty out the hopper tap on the auger then it will start again till it warms up.

This pellet smoker grill met 14 out of our 32 criteria when we used our checklist. Although 14 isn’t an exceptionally high score, the features that it did meet were the ones that were tied the most to customer satisfaction, encouraging us to look into the grill a little further. When the Grills Forever team did, we weren’t left disappointed! The smoker grill has one of the largest cooking grid sizes available today! The body of the grill itself is of high quality and is completely insulated, making it very efficient. The wide temperature range reaches a considerable height. However, the grill is remarkably durable and well prepared so you can rest assured of your safety. The porcelain-coated grates are also very easy to clean and conduct heat very well; lying underneath are the high-quality burners which are controlled through an automated system, meaning you can kick back and relax.
Operation of your Pit Boss Deluxe Wood Pellet Grill is easy. Simply load the pellet hopper with your favourite all-natural hardwood pellets and turn the dial to your desired pre-set temperature. This was a gift from my wife for my 65th B-day. I have been smoking foods most of my adult life and still have one wood, one propane and one charcoal smoker but this is my first pellet. It's so easy it's boring. I just load it, shut the lid and and walk away. No puffing, no loading of wood or water, no worry's with temperature, easy to clean and makes me look like the pit boss. From the searing of steaks, to smoked red and white meats, to baking entire meals, this is the best. My friends have the others, but I have the best.
The Green Mountain Grills Davy Crockett is a versatile, wood-pellet grill that is intended for portability. Regardless of its weight, it’s about as minimized as you can get, and takes care of business. Contrasted with more costly wood pellet barbecues, it appears to hold its own on performance, while the one of a kind Wi-Fi usefulness needs some finish.
***Six month update.... LOVE this pit. Can't say how much it has changed the way I cook. I initially bought it for the occasional times I want to smoke big meats... brisket, pork butt, ribs, pork belly, etc., and it is AWESOME for that. Totally "set it and forget it." But, it has completely replaced my $4000 Cal Flame gas "outdoor kitchen" for EVERYTHING. Burgers, chicken breasts/thighs/wings/etc, pork chops, steaks, veggies, pineapple...OK you get the point. I literally have not turned on my Cal-Flame since I purchased it. Our new favorite thing is buying cheap frozen pizzas and lasagna and making them taste like they were fired in a brick oven- without heating up the kitchen in our hot Texas summer months. Below is my original review, modified in a few spots where I have gained some knowledge and added some ***notes.... and, yes, I did use this for the graduation party mentioned below, and yes... it was perfection. I have been asked to cater similar events.
